When you’re setting up your baby’s nursery, you might not always have space for everything you’d like to add. In some cases, there might not be space in the home for a separate nursery. One of the easiest ways to save both space and money is to invest in a crib with an attached changing table.
Fortunately, I’ve narrowed down the many options and arrived at the Sorelle Princeton Elite Crib and Changer as the best crib with a changing table.
I’ve also added a handy buyers guide that highlights the features you should consider when you’re short-listing potential choices.

Comparing my top 3 choices (one from each type)
For a quick overview, I’ve compiled a side-by-side comparison of my 3 top choices. I’ve compared the following choices:
- Standard crib: Many parents with available space prefer a standard crib. A standard crib is also a great option for parents who are planning to have more children and want dedicated baby furniture. Since standard cribs are reasonably affordable, it’s often the most economical option. My favorite standard crib option is the Sorelle Princeton Elite Crib & Changer.
- Mini crib: A mini crib is smaller than a regular crib and is often the choice of parents living in apartments or with small room spaces. If the crib will be in another room with limited space or you want your baby to co-sleep in your room, a mini crib is an ideal option. My favorite mini crib with a changing table is the DaVinci Charlie 4-in-1 Convertible Mini Crib. This is the type of crib I compared when I made the Delta crib versus DaVinci comparison.
- Convertible crib: Quite possibly the most popular crib type at the moment has to be the convertible type. These types of cribs convert to toddler beds or ultimately into full-size beds. Crib combos will be labeled as 2-in-1 or even 3-in-one. This is an ideal option if you aren’t planning to have any more children as you won’t require the crib function in the future. My favorite convertible crib is the Graco Benton 5-in-1 Convertible Crib and Changing Table.

1. Sorelle Princeton Elite Crib and Changer
If it’s a more traditional look you’re after for your nursery, then the Sorelle Princeton Elite Crib and Changer might just be your best buy. With its dark Espresso-colored finish, this crib and changing table set adds a classic touch to your baby’s sleeping space.
A nifty changing table provides 3 drawers for packing all the essentials needed during changing and feeding. Shelves at the back of the drawers create the ideal place for extra blankets, diapers or loose toys. What a great way to keep the nursery clutter-free!
Despite being reminiscent of an old-school crib, this model also converts to a full-size bed when it’s time for your toddler to move out of the crib. Do note though, you’ll have to buy the conversion rails separately when needed.
An added benefit is the four-position metal mattress support that allows you to alter your mattress height as your baby grows. This model isn’t available in white so be sure dark is your preferred color scheme before opting for this pick!
Why should you consider it?
If you have a dedicated nursery, this stylish crib changer combo is a good option to highlight your little one’s presence in the room! The dark Espresso color is a break from the usual white, beige or light stained options, and will add a pop of class to any nursery. It’s definitely a great way to invest in an elegant design that will stylishly transition your children from toddlerhood to beyond!
2. DaVinci Charlie 4-in-1 Convertible Mini Crib and Changer Combo
Another crib and changer option that’s designed specifically for small spaces is the DaVinci Charlie 4-in-1 Convertible Mini Crib and Changer Combo. With its slim crib design and functional changing table, it gives you all the space you’ll need.
Three drawers and two shelves provide ample space for all the essentials needed during changing times. Four mattress height adjustments mean that your little one can easily sleep at the right level for each growth stage.
When your little one no longer needs the crib, you can quickly convert the unit into a handy toddler bed. Later on, the bed can be converted into a daybed or even a twin-size bed.
Why should you consider it?
This is another option that’s ideal for smaller rooms. Alternatively, if you prefer to keep your little one in your room for the first few months, this compact unit will easily fit without overwhelming the whole space. Since the crib converts to other beds, it’s another pick that will save you money in the long run!
It’s actually also my top brand when I compared DaVinci cribs with those from Babyletto.
3. Graco Benton 5-in-1 Convertible Crib and Changing Table
As with everything else from the Graco brand, their Graco Benton 5-in-1 Convertible Crib and Changing Table is a top-quality product! This model boasts being the recipient of the Parent Tested Parent Approved (PTPA) Seal of Approval. I compared this model to Storkcraft’s crib in a separate article.
It offers a complete changing, storage, and sleep solution for your baby’s nursery. The changing table features a water-resistant changing pad and a sturdy safety strap. This means your little one will be safe and secure if your hands are busy.
The Graco also offers a three-position adjustable mattress support base which allows your little one to always be lying at the right height no matter what developmental stage they’re at.
Why should you consider it?
Graco has been providing quality baby products for the last 70 years and if it’s a quality brand you want, look no further! This stylish design blends well with just about any nursery theme or decor choice!
4. Dream On Me Anna 3-in-1 Full-Size Crib & Changing Table
The Dream On Me Anna 3-in-1 Full-Size Crib & Changing Table combo offers a sleek yet classic crib design. If you’re looking for a minimalist option this might just be the pick for you!
With its slim design, it’s the ideal option for anyone having to fit a crib and changing table into a small space. Two storage shelves provide adequate space for all your baby essentials, putting everything you need within easy reach!
Six elegant finishes include Cherry, Black, Espresso, Natural, Storm Grey & White making it easy to find the best color to complement your decor. A detachable changing table can be used as a nightstand as your little one grows.
Why should you consider it?
There are 2 very simple reasons to consider this model. For starters, the crib grows with your baby. Once your little one outgrows the crib phase, the unit converts from a crib to a toddler bed and eventually a daybed.
Opting for this model means you won’t have to spend money on bedroom furniture as the little one grows. Secondly, with its small dimensions, it’s the ideal option for small rooms or apartments.
This brand is also my top choice when I compared Dream On Me with Delta cribs.
5. Dream On Me Casco 3-in-1 Mini Crib & Changing Table
Another simplistic option is the Dream On Me Casco 3-in-1 Mini Crib & Changing Table. Constructed from New Zealand pinewood, its modern design is minimalistic and classy. Five neutral finishes allow you to match this crib combo with any furniture already in the nursery!
A 3 drawer changing table provides ample space for all your baby’s essentials that you’ll need during changing. The changing pad features a nifty security strap to keep your little one tightly fastened during changing sessions. This is quite handy when your little one grows and starts wriggling around during changing times.
Why should you consider it?
By purchasing the Conversion kit (sold separately), you’ll be able to convert this cute little crib to a mini daybed as well as a twin-size bed. Since it’s compact and lightweight, it’s worth considering smaller spaces or if you want your little one to co-sleep in your room.
For any parent who is considering co-sleeping, I suggest you look at my article on co-sleeper cribs that attach to a bed so you can make an informed decision.
6. Dream On Me Jayden 4-in-1 Mini Crib & Changer
If your nursery is all about graceful elegance and simplicity, the Dream On Me Jayden 4-in-1 Mini Crib & Changer is what you’re looking for. As with many of the other options on my list, this model easily converts into bigger beds as your infant grows.
A detachable 3-drawer changing table features two back shelves for additional storage, providing you with the ideal way to keep your space clutter-free. The changing mattress and restraining strap boast an easy-to-release buckle, keeping your baby secure during changing.
A quality 1” OEM mattress pad easily slots into the changing table. Dream On Me sells separate crib mattresses specifically for their cribs if you need to purchase one afterward.
Why should you consider it?
Six stylish colors provide you with a wide choice of options to match your crib to the existing furniture in the space. Its slim design makes it ideal for small apartment spaces or as an add-on in your own room.
7. Storkcraft Stevenson 4-in-1 Convertible Crib & Changer with Drawer
A classic and stylish headboard, solid wood panels, and ample storage space make the Storkcraft Stevenson 4-in-1 Convertible Crib & Changer with Drawer a firm favorite! Designed for a modern living space, this crib changer combo definitely deserves a place on your shortlist.
The attached changing table features a vinyl changing pad and safety strap, ensuring your baby is securely fastened during changing. As a space saver, this model has two shelves under the changing pad. Additionally, there’s a large drawer under the crib providing the ideal space for extra bedding, clothes, or diapers.
A three-position adjustable mattress support base allows you to choose the height you want to keep your baby at. The modern design converts into a toddler bed, daybed, and eventual full-size bed as your little one grows. You’ll need a conversion kit with guard rails to finalize the conversion and these are sold separately.
Why should you consider it?
If you prefer a larger drawer under the crib as opposed to 3 smaller ones on the changing table, this modern choice is a good reason to opt for this pick. Since it’s available in four neutral colors, you’re sure to find an appropriate match for the rest of your nursery furniture!
Storkcraft even has a price tag that’s easy on the pocket. It’s great for parents who are buying everything from scratch and need to optimize a smaller budget!
Cribs with attached changing table vs buying a separate changing table
Depending on who you ask, some parents will tell you you NEED a crib changing table combo because it makes the whole changing and storage process much easier. Other parents will tell you it’s not that necessary.
Since there are so many opinions for either option, I’ve added the pros & cons for both choices to help you find a setup that works for you.
Crib with a changing table attached
Opting for a crib changing table combo is an ideal option for parents with limited space. Some of the other pros & cons of this option are listed below.
Pros
- Cost-efficient – 2 items for a single price
- No need to search for matching furniture as the crib and changing table are painted or varnished in the same finish
- Ideal for small spaces particularly if there isn’t a separate nursery
- Saves space as the table is attached to the crib
- Puts the changing table within easy reach
- Some models have drawers and shelves, creating more storage
- Certain sets can detach and be used as a dresser or nightstand later on
Cons
- The attached changing tables aren’t always of standard size, meaning you’ll need specially sized changing pads
- Paint on attached tables tend to chip easier (common complaint across brands)
- Different changing pads tend not to fit
Separate changing table
Some parents with a nursery that offers enough space often prefer a separate changing table. One of the more popular freestanding changing tables is the Delta Children Infant Changing Table. Some of the pros & cons of this type of setup are listed below.
Pros
- Can be used in any room without too much effort
- Standard size accommodates even bigger babies
- Wide range of style and decor options
- Additional shelves on some models create extra storage
- Some models allow the top to fold down, making the room clutter-free when it’s not in use
Cons
- Stand-alone changing tables can be wobbly
- Can become redundant as there’s no use for it afterward
- Might not always be possible to find a table that matches the rest of the furniture in the room
Things to consider when looking for a crib with a changing table
Not all crib changing table combos are the same. Some are easier to use than others. With this in mind, I’ve added a few key features that you should consider before you make your final decision.
Safety
With a crib changing table combo, some of the safety pointers to consider include the following:
- Cribs with slatted frames should have narrow enough gaps to prevent babies from lodging their heads between the slats. Openings shouldn’t be wider than about 2 1/2“.
- Ensure the crib is sturdy and won’t possibly tip over if the changing table is full and therefore heavier.
- Both the crib and changing table should be made (or painted with) non-toxic varnish or paint.
- A changing table with a safety strap to keep the baby on the table while your hands are busy is always a great plus.
- The changing table should be able to accommodate a waterproof changing pad.
- Irrespective of the bargains you come across, always buy your nursery furniture from a reputable manufacturer and retailer. Try not to buy a used crib.
- Safety certifications you can look for include the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) which ensures that cribs and changing tables meet the necessary government standards. This will give you peace of mind that the materials, sturdiness and durability are quality controlled.
Material
Traditionally, cribs were made mostly from hardwood making them durable and long-lasting. These days, however, cribs are made from a variety of different woods. Some of these options include birch, cherry, maple, oak, and even ash.
It’s important to ensure the crib is made from durable wood to ensure it remains sturdy even as the little one starts playing around in it. Be wary of pine units as this type of wood can be soft and knicks quite easily.
Storage capacity
One of the main reasons parents opt for a crib changing table combo is to save space. In doing so, it’s a great idea to ensure the table offers adequate storage space. Remember that changing essentials should be close at hand and preferably in arm’s reach while your little one is on the changing table.
Some models feature drawers or at the very least an under-crib drawer for baby clothes or extra bedding. Many models also have shelves behind the drawers to provide additional storage space. If you don’t have a dedicated nursery, a crib with storage space is the best idea to keep the baby’s clothes, toiletries and bedding neatly stored and uncluttered.
Having the ideal changing table is one thing. But, if you’re still trying to figure out the essentials that go in it, watch the clip below for a few helpful hints!
Changing pad included?
It’s important to check if the changing pad for the changing table is included in the combo. If the pad isn’t included, you’ll have to establish if the mattress should be standard size or special size. If it’s a special size, it might be a good idea to get an additional pad to prevent a no-stock situation down the line.
Many changing pads feature their own straps for extra security. However, this isn’t always the case so it’s best to check options while you’re shortlisting your favorites. Many parents opt for the Munchkin Secure Grip Waterproof Diaper Changing Pad as an alternative to the one included in most crib combos. Other popular changing pads are covered in my article comparing Hatch, Keekaroo, Bumbo to Skip Hop’s products.
I also recently wrote an article about how to secure your changing pad to your dresser which you might find helpful if your crib combo doesn’t come with straps!
Design
When it comes to design, there’s no right or wrong. It’s entirely a matter of personal choice. I do however have a few pointers you should always take into consideration.
- If you’re planning to have more children and use the combo in years to come, opt for a neutral color.
- Consider the look and feel of the crib of the changing table and how it fits into the decor in the room.
- Ensure that the design you’re opting for is durable and sturdy.
- If you’re a short person, you might want to opt for a crib that has a lower edge on the front which will make it easy to reach into the crib.
Size
Before you rush out and buy your favorite-looking combo, always consider the space where the crib will stand. This is particularly relevant if you’ll be putting the crib combo in your room because you don’t want it to become cramped. Before heading out to the store, or checking your online options, be sure to measure the space you have available.
Ensure you’ll be able to place the crib and changing table in such a manner that you’ll have easy access to all the drawers without having to leave the baby alone on the table. The good news is, there are different-sized cribs and changing table options that will accommodate smaller spaces. These are often referred to as mini cribs.
Mattress
The crib mattress is the place where your baby will spend the bulk of their early months. It’s important to have a quality, comfortable mattress option. Most cribs come with a mattress as a standard feature.
If you think the mattress is too thin, you might want to purchase a separate mattress. Always ensure the mattress is the same size as the crib. Avoid larger mattresses that create bunching as this won’t only be uncomfortable but also poses a potential risk for SIDS.
If you’re buying a mattress, ensure it’s breathable and washable. One of the more popular crib mattresses is the Graco Premium Foam Crib Mattress. It’s a firm favorite among parents because it’s 100% machine washable, breathable and water-resistant.
Height adjustment
Another feature to look for on your crib is whether it has mattress adjustable height options. Many cribs offer 3 or 4 adjustable heights to place the mattress on at different stages of the baby’s growth.
Newborns are always at the highest level so that they’re easy to reach. As the baby grows and starts moving around, their mattresses will be lowered to keep them safe, ensuring they can’t escape. So, opt for a crib option that allows for height adjustment for long-term benefits. And my article on the topic will help you understand exactly how and when to go about these crib height adjustments.
Removability of changing table from the crib
It’s important to note that not all changing tables can be removed from their cribs. This will depend on the particular manufacturer’s brand and style. Some changing tables on the other hand can be taken off and converted into a nightstand, dresser, or used for storage. This is a great option to have as the baby grows as it can be placed in their next room and save you money on buying furniture.
Price
Another common reason to opt for a crib combo is the cost. Buying a crib, chest of drawers (for storage), and changing tables can be quite costly. Often, buying a combo can be very cost-effective. Compare the prices of each item individually vs the price of a combo.
An advantage of buying a combo is that you’re able to find everything in one color. There’s no running around trying to find furniture pieces that match the decor in the room!
Ease of Assembly
If you’re an expectant parent, there are a lot of things you’re busy arranging, planning, and buying. Depending on the type of crib you’re buying, it might require some extensive assembly. Consider how easy the instructions are to follow.
Some retailers might offer assembly services and it might be easier to invest in such a service. Factor the cost of this into your budget. If the crib is challenging to put together it might be difficult to move to another room or take it apart later on. Also, new parents should minimize their stress levels so they have the energy to enjoy their baby more. So, outsource for your own benefit!
Does the crib convert to a bed?
A popular budget-saving trick with parents is to opt for a mini crib combo that converts to a toddler bed once there’s no longer any use for the crib. Many cribs convert to daybeds, and bigger beds as your little one grows.
To fully utilize this function, you might have to purchase conversion kits that contain guardrails or metal frames. Many of the changing tables can convert into a dresser or nightstand as the bed evolves.
A tip from experienced parents: Buy the conversion kits when you buy the crib. That way there’ll be no struggle later on if the model is discontinued by the time your little one is ready to move onto a bigger bed.
A crib changer combo feature has a dual purpose. If you aren’t going to have any more children, you’ll still have a use for the furniture. You’ll also save money on having to buy new room furniture the moment your baby outgrows the crib and when she stops using a changing table.
Final thoughts
Opting for a crib with a changing table will make a huge difference to the area where you place the crib. If you don’t have a dedicated nursery, the area you’re using will look less cluttered with an attached changing table. Depending on the option you choose, you might actually gain additional storage which will come in handy as the baby grows.
For almost any room setup I suggest the Sorelle Princeton Elite Crib and Changer, especially if you’ll have more than one kid.
Choosing a crib with a changing table will more than likely save you money, which is always a huge plus! So, buying from this niche is a wise financial decision for your family
