Differences and Similarities Between SNOO vs Graco Sense2Snooze
Both these products are parent favorites, and it’s easy to see why. They each have a variety of features that are helpful to parents.
The SNOO bassinet comes out with top marks in most of the categories except price, and that can be a deciding factor for most families. Here are all its features at a glance; in the next sections I’ll go into details regarding both SNOO and the one from Graco.
Motion
The Sense2Snooze is a parent’s best friend (at least should be). It has three different soothing levels available and it senses when your baby starts to become fussy. The motion detector then alerts the bassinet to gently rock your baby back to sleep. If the baby does not go back to sleep the rocking and vibrations will be increased.
The bassinet will also play soothing sounds such as white noise which resembles the sound of a mother’s womb. This is proven to help your baby sleep for longer, without any parental interference.
The SNOO smart bassinet was designed using medical research. They studied the best ways to get a baby to sleep and implemented them into the creation of the world’s smartest bassinet. As your baby sleeps, the bassinet tracks their sleep cycle and responds to the baby in real-time.
If fussiness is detected the bassinet will respond by playing white noise and gently rocking your baby back to sleep.
Vibration
In this category, the SNOO bassinet is the winner, hands down. It uses a combination of rocking, vibrations, and white noise to respond to your baby immediately to get your baby back to sleep faster.
As soon as any motion is detected the bassinet springs into action and lulls the baby back to sleep.
The Sense2Snooze also does amazingly well in this category as it has two different vibration settings depending on how fussy the baby is. The Sense2Snooze has three-movement and two different vibration settings you can operate from the control panel located on the crib.
The Graco bassinet moves in a “back and forth” motion along the center of your baby’s body (head to toe) not up and down.
Sounds
Both bassinets come loaded with sounds to help your baby get back to sleep quickly.
The Graco Sense2Snooze bassinet comes with white noise, 10 lullabies, and 10 other calming sounds. The songs might be lovely to help your baby get to sleep but the way to keep your baby asleep is using white noise.
That’s why the SNOO bassinet comes out on top because it provides five levels of white noise. The level and intensity are adjustable from your SmartPhone. So you can adjust it without needing to enter the room. The SNOO also has an automatic shut-down feature.
Once it’s needed again it will cycle through the settings until your baby is fast asleep once more
Cry Detection
Another amazing feature that all parents will love is the cry detection technology. Both bassinets have this feature.
The Graco Sense2Snooze has a built-in microphone and uses an algorithm to detect when your baby is crying. This may mean that the baby will cry a few times before the sound is detected. Once it detects your child’s cry it starts working through a series of motion, vibration, and playing different sounds until the baby is back asleep.
The SNOO detects your baby’s cry instantly! This helps as the bassinet starts to soothe your baby before they are fully awake. The moment movement is detected the SNOO takes over parenting mode and uses white noise and the motion of the rocking cradle to send your baby back to dreamland.
Age and Weight Limits
The Sense2Snooze bassinet has a weight limit of 20lbs. Experts recommend that the baby should stop using the bassinet once they are able to roll over unassisted or pull themselves into a sitting or standing position.
Once your child is able to do this, you will need to consider other sleeping arrangements.
The weight and age limit for the SNOO is 6 months or 25lbs. It’s no longer safe to use the bassinet once the child can sit up on their own.
Canopy
The Sense2Sleep has a reversible canopy that can be adjusted to shield your baby from light while sleeping. This helps to keep them cool, comfortable, and asleep for longer.
The SNOO doesn’t have a canopy.
Do these Bassinets have Swaddle Clips?
The SNOO bassinet features especially designed swaddle clips that hold the baby in place. This prevents the child from rolling over and helps prevent SIDS.
The Sense2Snooze doesn’t feature swaddle clips. Sheets and swaddle bags can be purchased separately.
Baby Roll Prevention
The swaddle clips featured on the SNOO prevent the baby from rolling over. The Sense2Snooze doesn’t have this feature.
Mobile App
The SNOO’s mobile app allows parents to monitor their baby’s sleep patterns and keep a record of each time the baby wakes up and how long the bassinet takes to soothe them back to sleep.
Parents can track and monitor sleep patterns and identify why the baby wakes up at certain intervals.
The Sense2Snooze doesn’t have this feature.
Safety
The SNOO bassinet was designed with safety in mind. It features the patented swaddle attachment which prevents your baby from rolling over. The safest sleeping position for babies is sleeping on their backs.
The swaddle attachment ensures that your baby remains on their back which greatly reduces the risk of SIDS.
Another safe option is the mini crib instead of a bassinet which allows you to keep your baby close to you.
Price
Although the SNOO bassinet might seem a bit expensive at first glance, can you really put a price on a good night’s sleep? You may answer yes right now, but after a week of sleepless nights I bet you’ll pay any amount not to be sleep-deprived.
It’s also important to remember that the bassinet is packed with special features that really assists your child in getting back to sleep without you.
If however, you are on a very strict budget then the next best bassinet is the Graco Sense2Snooze option for a much lower price. It doesn’t have as many features as the SNOO but the features it does have should help you get a few more hours of much-needed sleep.
How Does the Sense2Snooze Bassinet Work?
The Graco Sense2Snooze uses motion detection and a microphone to sense when your baby wakes up. Once it has noticed your baby is awake the smart bassinet has 3 soothing motion speeds and 2 vibration settings that it runs through to soothe your little one back to sleep.
Unfortunately, the controls can only be changed on the control panel located on the crib, this means that parents may have to risk entering the room to change the settings. This may cause some parents distress.
On most occasions, the bassinet will run through the cycle and your baby will be lulled back to sleep.
Why I Love the Sense2Snooze Bassinet
- Cry detection
- Mesh sides to help the baby breathe and allow parents to see into the crib
- Storage pockets
- Wheels to move the crib easily
- Removable canopy
- Multiple motion speeds, vibrations, and sounds
How Does the SNOO Bassinet Work?
The SNOO’s unique motion detection and patented swaddle feature are two of the main reasons for its unprecedented success. The motion in which the bassinet moves is similar to what the baby is used to as it resembles the rocking in the womb.
The SNOO connects to your wifi to record all of the evening’s activities on the SmartAp that you can download onto your SmartPhone. This gives us parents full control over the bassinet and allows us to establish a sleeping pattern.
As soon as the SNOO detects your baby crying or your child begins to stir, the bassinet will begin its soothing motion and run through the cycle of getting your baby back to sleep for you. You can control the mode from your SmartPhone but the bassinet is so smart, it doesn’t require any parent intervention.
