What about pull-up sizes 7 and 8?

It’s not uncommon for some children to need pull-ups to a size 7 and even 8. Some brands only go up to a size 5T. The good news is, some other brands do make provision for bigger children who still require some assistance with potty training

It can be time-consuming to find a brand that can accommodate a bigger size. To make it simpler, I’ve listed a few options you might consider:

On the note of what comes after 5T in pull-ups, I recently wrote an article about sizes after 5T in toddler clothes. If your 5T dilemma relates to your little one’s clothes, it might be a good idea to read the article for some advice!

How to know when your child needs a pull-up size larger than 5T

Not all children develop the same. In fact, some children take a little longer than others to master their bladders. When looking at the differences between diapers vs pullups, you’ll see that there are a few signs for how to know when your little one isn’t ready to leave pull-ups:

  • Heavy wetters who tend to wet the bed a lot at night
  • Children struggling with potty training and size 5T is starting to feel too snug and even tight
  • Children with disabilities such as autism who are still learning to potty train

At some point, your little diapers and pull-ups stop being unisex. Read my article regarding the differences between pull-ups for a boy or girl to understand why boys and girls pull-ups are different.

Features to consider for pull-ups bigger than 5T

There are a few features that you should consider when you’re looking for the ideal pull-up bigger than 5T. Some features will make the potty training process slightly easier. It’ll also ease the transition between diapers, pull-ups, and underwear. These features to look for include the following.

Odor absorption

Toddler urine is much stronger than newborns. It can be quite overwhelming. Always look for a pull-up that advertises odor absorption. This is especially helpful for bedwetting at night.

Stretchy waistband

Always look for a stretchy waistband that is easy for your toddler to pull up and down in a hurry. The easier the pull-up is for the little one to use, the sooner they’ll get to being fully potty trained.

Breathable layers

Pull-ups with breathable layers make it easy to release humidity. These types of features pull the moisture away from the baby’s skin. Your little one won’t develop a rash from having wetness against their skin for extended periods.

Absorbent layers

If you’re going to be using the pull-ups mostly at night time, you’ll need to opt for a type that can absorb a considerable amount of liquid. This will prevent your little one from sleeping in a puddle of wetness all night.

What is the biggest size of pull-ups?

Currently, the largest size of pull-ups available on the market is “Extra Large” (XL). This size usually fits children who weigh between 60 – 125+lbs (27 – 57kg). This is especially helpful if your little one isn’t fully potty trained. It’s also great for getting a handle on overnight bedwetting. It allows your child to have a dry night’s sleep

If your child is still struggling to master the potty situation, perhaps you can show them this cute little clip to get the process started!

Conclusion

Having pull-up sizes bigger than 5T means you don’t have to stress too much if your little one isn’t fully potty trained. Opting to get the Pampers Easy Ups will allow you the ease of the velcro sides and the bigger sizes. It’ll also give you some peace of mind knowing that your little one will be comfortable and well on their way to being potty-trained!
